VISIT OUR CHIROPRACTOR FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE TREATMENT
High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a common condition that is dangerous. 1 out of every 3 people in America have it but many are unaware because it usually does not cause any obvious pain. The causes of each case of hypertension are unique and they vary based on genetics, lifestyle and other health and disease concerns. If left unchecked, high blood pressure is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease, kidney failure and stroke because the blood travels through the cardiovascular system at such a high pressure that it creates stress on the heart, brain and kidneys. Although medication is the most common treatment for hypertension, these medications have several unwanted side effects. Fortunately, chiropractic care can help manage hypertension naturally. Wheat Ridge chiropractor Dr. Al Simeone offers effective treatment for high blood pressure, without drugs.
What You Need to Know about High Blood Pressure
Blood pressure should be measured at every checkup because patients with high blood pressure rarely experience direct pain. If you or a family member have a history of hypertension, cardiovascular disease or have a lifestyle that increases the risk of high blood pressure, your blood pressure should be monitored regularly.
During a blood pressure measurement there are two numbers recorded:
- Systolic—This pressure is measured when the heart pumps and should fall below 120. If your systolic reading is measured between 121 and 139 you have prehypertension and if your systolic reading is measured above 140 it is considered high.
- Diastolic—This pressure is measured between heartbeats and should be below 80. If your diastolic reading is measured between 81 and 90 you have prehypertension and if it is above 90 it is too high.
Chiropractic Care Can Provide Relief from High Blood Pressure
Multiple recent studies have demonstrated that skilled chiropractic care is at least as effective at providing high blood pressure relief as two widely-used medications. If that sounds surprising, it shouldn’t. Any misalignment of the spine (subluxation) that pinches nerves and interrupts proper communication between the brain and the body will affect how the body functions. In the case of high blood pressure, the nerves in the top of the spine can be pinched, affecting blood pressure. Chiropractor Dr. Al Simeone can gently and precisely correct subluxations and pinched nerves that communicate with your heart, bringing your blood pressure back to balance.
